missing msconfig
I went into msconfig and clicked on the advance tab under the general option. I did not have the disable fast shutdown option listed there. So I have three questions. First what happend to disable fast shutdown. At some point, you apparently installed the Win98 SE shutdown patch. The Patch removes the Fast Shutdown

Just wondering if this has anything to do with whats happend, BTW the 3 progams I selected to remove, were MS instant messenger (Microsoft one, that has nothing to do with AIM). Are you sure there isn't any connection between AIM not working and the three items you unchecked in MSConfig | Startup?

SETI Problem?
I could get logged in safe mode trough the "msconfig", but I am wondering why doesn' the F8 work on that PC?! Does it happend to anyone? There's a solution? There is at least one other person with the same problem, but no one has solved it yet. He used msconfig also.

Windows XP Boot up Slow???
I thought this was odd at first so I tried to enter my bios(delete) and still nothing happend. Does anyone know if someone I could have disabled these options in windows XP If still no luck, use Start> Run> MSCONFIG> Boot.ini. Select the /Safeboot option. Restart the computer. It will load to Safe Mode.

... 6 program load with windows start up When i turned the windows on today i found only 4 The other 2 program already loaded into the memory but Can't see them in the taskbar. i tried "msconfig" Disabled All start up processes and enabled them again. Help --- Stuck in compatibility mode
I have done as you said; I went to run and typed msconfig than I choose diagnostic startup and clicked ok; however, no line by line came.Consequently I was not able to type "y" or "n". Check your startup folder and MSCONFIG (startup tab). You can also check the following registry keys and edit as appropriate (if you have experience with I was trying to make room, so i deleted temporary internet files, and then i don't know what happend but an hour later i couldn't connect to the internet.

Weird Shutdown...
Even disabling all of the elements in MSCONFIG's startup section didn't stop this strange event. Anyone know where else it might be located, which appl. is causing it, and best of all, how to stop it? At the least, has this happend to anyone else? thanks, reply to: balb...@yahoo.com.

Far more likely it was something that happend immediately prior to the time you shut down. There is alot of information on the net about invalid page Use MSCONFIG to test all your startups one by one. If that doesn't resolve it and you still suspect IE6 is the culprit, try repairing IE6 via Add/Remove Programs.

The only constant was the Office version (Office 2000 Professional same install disk and service release, SR-1) and MSConfig. I disabled find fast using this MSConfig and Word would crash on initialization, excel would crash on exit and the rules wizard died in outlook. This happend on two separate computers.
